Two of a Kind, Working on a Full House and Britax are teaming up to giveaway a Britax Frontier 85 SICT booster. I am praying to win this booster because we are in need of a second seat. We are currently own only one vehicle as we are trying to pay off all credit within the next three years. Anyhow since my husband drives the car to work I am home with our younger daughter and I have had friends offer to bring us places but that requires moving the car seat daily or when a plan would arise. However I hate to inconvience my friends so I will not make plans until I know I have a seat handy.
Now that I have shared my story, let’s hear about the seat. The Britax Frontier 85 SICT is amazing. The forward facing seat is for 2 year olds who are 25+ pounds, up to 85 pounds, 30-50 inches, seating shoulder height: 12-20 inches. Booster: 40-120 pounds, height: 42-65 inches, shoulder height: 13.5-24.5 inches. I love that once you child is 2 years old and 25+ pounds this is seat will work until they no longer need a seat. The seat has side impact chushion technology, true side impact protection, 85 pound five-point harness seat capacity, tangle free five point harness, easy removable cover, it is quick adjust, and it had Premium lower LATCH connectors (LOVE LATCH=LIFESAVER).

http://platform.twitter.com/widgets/hub.1326407570.htmlI just wanted to share an awesome giveaway with you from Sparkling Review for their 2000 follower giveaway. They are giving away……….drum roll………………………………………:
I would love to win this package and you have a chance to win it too! Check it out.
The story of “you” started the day you were born or you could say the day your parents found out they were expecting you. In the womb you grow until you are strong enough to enter this world. When the time is right you leave your mother’s womb and enter the world, a few days later you a introduced to your new home. The next chapter of your life starts, as well as your family. If you are the first child your parents are learning a new way of life, caring for a newborn is a lot of work. Everyday is something new. Everyday the baby is growing and learning. The story of
you, fill in the blank. As a mother I fill the blank in with one of my daughters names. In the first year they are always learning and growing. The second year they are into everything and their personality is now very clear. In the first few years the little baby that was in your belly a short time ago is now a little person. Even at a few years they have a story. They might not know their story but someone does. As the years go on so does their story. They learn and love at home. They learn how to be…. To be, depending on what you teach. Well you consider yourself a teacher, you are! You are your child’s teacher. You teach them how to love, forgive, share, and the list goes on.
Over the last few months I realize how true this is, for my family. I know not all families are the way I described but the above is part of my family and my family. What your parents have pasted onto you, bad or good. The way you handle you feeling, temper, and outlook on life. Religious believes and values. All of these factors are part of your story. I see the importance in helping writing my child’s story. We (myself and my husband) have the chance to instill values in them that will help them along the way. I want to set an example for the way to live. I want to make my lives’ story one leaves a good memories, demonstrates strong values, and leads the way to an ending in heaven. If you choose an ending different than mine, that is fine. However, my story has a beginning and end… I am just here to fill in the middle. I welcome you to read the middle, the short stories of my life, my children, and everyday experiences. My life in photographs.

I was craving a soft and delicious cookie this afternoon but didn’t feel doing a lot of measuring or clean up. I knew exactly what to make, pumpkin spice cookies. I grabed everything and as soon as I poured the cake mix I knew it wasn’t a spice cake. Opps! Chocolate cake mix. So we tested chocolate/pumpkin cookies. They were soft, gooey, and yummy!
Laney got to lick the spoon and gave it to her after is was scraped. No mess right? Ah, nope!
Simple and quick cookies:
1 box of spice cake (or chocolate cake mix)
1 can of pumpkin (15 ounce)
chocolate chips (I like minis but used chunks)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all together and drop on cookies sheets. Bake for minutes 10 minutes.
(I have pictures for this post but they are not loading, ugh)
Tonight we will all be saying good bye to 2011 and welcoming a New Year full of potential. I know that for my family that 2011 was a hard year. Christmas 2010 my hubby moved myself and my two girls back to Michigan while he returned to California to prepare for a deployment. We were separated for 9 month and 7 months were the actual deployment. The 9 months were hard on us all. We actually thought that hubby would be leaving the ship and going to shore duty in November 2010 but the ship had other plans. The three years we were in California (and us in Michigan) might have been the hardest three years of my life. The girls and I moved to Virginia in mid August, hubby met us Labor Day weekend for two weeks and headed back to the ship for a month and a half. We are finially getting into the swing of things again. I think that 2012 will be a great year for our family. What I am looking forward to in 2012:
- Spending time together as a family.
- Spending the day at OBX
- Reaching my goal weight, losing 80 pounds
- Paying down debt
- Running a 5k
- Traveling to Michigan to see family.
I have to ask myself, “where did December go?” We traveled to Michigan for Christmas and only had a weeks time to drive there visit and get back. It seemed to be a very rushed visit but a visit none the less. I remember around Thanksgiving thinking I was on track with the coming holiday but soon I was wondering where the time had gone.
As for diet we were trying a few of the Eating Clean recipes. The girls were not liking all the new vegetables. We were not really paying attention before Christmas. Epecially the week before Christmas when we were baking LOTS of Christmas cookies. I was eating cookies for breakfast. I know that it is a horrible breakfast but it is fast and tasty yummy. The girls were eating cereal and fruit or whole wheat toaster waffles. Well we were gone I just ate whatever I wanted. Everything was so delicious but I was tired most of the time we were gone. I know that traveling makes me tired but I wonder if or most of it was due to the food choices I made.
On the way home my hubby gave me a bookstore card a store that was local to the area. I bought Toca Reno’s book, Eating Clean Recharged. I read about four chapters of the book and it really got me thinking. I need to start eating healthy food, exercising and lose weight. Doing the first to things will lead to weight loss, so start there. In the book it talks about how important healthy food is to a beautiful body. A beautiful body is part of my goal. Starting tomorrow, December 30th we are eating clean. It will take some getting used too. Hopefully it is easy to get into the swing of it. I have everything I need for two day and tomorrow I am making a list of other stuff I need for the next few days. Most of the food is fresh so I can’t buy two weeks of stuff at a time. I think that this will be fun and hopefully we will see results very soon. I am hoping we can stay with this together because I know it will be easier for me if he is on board. Will be updating this blog more, stay turned.
Current weight: 215.1
While I was sleeping this morning my hubby baked a batch of blueberry scones. I have to say I am addicted to Starbucks. Everyday I go there and get a Venti Iced Chai Latte-nonfat and a blueberry scone. I was telling my husband that I needed to stop going there for this treat because in cutting it out I could save a lot of calories or we could make it at home and save calories too.
Starbucks Venti Iced Chai Latte/nonfat:
Starbucks Blueberry Scone:
Fat: 22 g
Carbs: 61 g
Fiber: 2 g
Sugar: 17 g
Protein: 7 g
Total calories for this treat: 760 calories
Wow I can’t believe that I was eating 760 calories for a snack. YIKES.
I used FitWatch recipe analyzer to run the recipe my hubby used and here is the nutrition.
Homemade Whole Wheat Blueberry Scones
Carbs: 34.64 g
Protein: 5.64 g
Fiber: 4 g
No sugar info, hmmm
I will not be posting the recipe because I am not loving this recipes, it needs some tweeks.
Can anyone tell my of a good site for a recipe analyzer?
